The only thing more elusive to the vast majority of people than a shared definition of success is a solid understanding of how to achieve it.

After spending the better part of 2.5 years studying what makes people successful, I have distilled what it takes into one great presentation with a simple and memorable mantra: Success is in your F.A.C.E. Where F.A.C.E. is an acronym that stand for:

Focus –┬áThis is where it all begins. There’s a famous quotation from an unknown source that states: “Your mind is like a garden. Your thoughts are the seeds. You can plant flowers or you can plant weeds.” The focus you have dictates the results you get. That’s why I believe you really need to be focused on these next three issues:

Awareness: There are so many things about which we need to be aware: how we interact with others, what our learning styles are, when are energy levels are at their peak, what’s going on inside of us, what’s going on around us and so much more. Having a keen awareness of what really supports our focus is critical. Two things we need to be completely aware of are:

Communications- Whether we’re looking at the written word, our ability to deliver a presentation, a simple status update or our own self talk, we have to make sure our communications is on point. Our messaging is important and so is the channels we use to deliver it.

Execution- Ultimately the only thing that really matters. We can plan and plan but if we don’t fire on all cylinders here, the planning was a waste of time.
