From the list of rhetorical questions, let’s give this one a resounding YES!!!

Of course your event needs a great speaker. But how do you find one?

The best way is always referrals. If someone suggested a great speaker to you, go check that person out. If they’re in the speaking game at all, there will be video of them speaking or at the very least hosting a podcast. They should have a bunch of content of them speaking on their website, social media channels or even a YouTube channel.

Take a look and see if you like them. A couple of folks I always recommend: Tina Marie Wohlfield for all things HR Charlie Wollborg for Marketing, Shawn Lee for firing up your crowd and Brenda Meller for all things LinkedIn.

The next best way might be to do a google search. And if you do, you may land on a page like this.

If that person does a lot of speaking, they’ll post a video for you to see them speak at some events, That video might look like this one:

Then you can check out the video, browse around the rest of the site and see how that person might align to your audience.

If I were selling me to you for your event…

I would start by telling you I’ve spoken to audiences of up to 3,000 attendees and delivered trainings to three people in a room. Size truly doesn’t matter. Especially since Covid when presentations became virtual. You want someone who brings the same amount of fire regardless of the audience.

I’ve developed well over 100 presentations over the past 15 years and have at least 40 of them sitting on my laptop right now ready to go.

Money matters, but not nearly as much as impact. I’m not doing this for free, but I don’t charge 10s of thousands of dollars either.
